This 5-week workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to traditional black-and-white photography. Ideal for beginners or those looking to refresh their skills, the course covers the essential techniques of analog photography. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on learning, students will learn to operate 35mm film cameras, explore different approaches to lighting, process black-and-white negatives, and create prints in the darkroom. During the first week, participants will have the opportunity to practice camera functions by photographing their peers in Penumbra’s daylight studio. No prior darkroom experience is necessary.
Tuition includes 2 rolls of film and 25 sheets of RC paper. Students may purchase additional film and paper as needed.
If your desired tuition option is unavailable, please email info@penumbrafoundation.org and we will do our best to accommodate you. If the entire class is sold out, we can add you to the waitlist.
