The Center for Alternative Photography (CAP) is the educational department of Penumbra Foundation which was developed in 2001. CAP is dedicated to teaching historical, emulsion based and alternative photographic processes.

Penumbra Foundation is proud to host the Penumbra Artist Series. The series brings to life the work of featured photographers and other notable guest artists and scholars, offering a unique opportunity to engage with them in an intimate setting as they discuss their work and process.

The Penumbra Tintype Studio is open for sessions from 11:00am to 5:00pm, Thursday & Friday, and 12:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturdays. We are located at 36 E. 30th Street, New York, NY 10016.
