Interested in learning alternative process printing but unsure which to explore? Do you have a project in mind and want to experiment with materials, surfaces, and techniques to find the right fit?
This four-week workshop, open to students of all levels, introduces a range of salt and silver-based printing processes: salted paper, albumen, and collodio chloride. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, students gain experience mixing chemistry, coating substrates, exposing, and processing prints. Each week, students will bring digital files created with any device to be printed as digital negatives and translated into each process. By the end of the course, students leave with a portfolio of prints in each process and the technical knowledge to continue experimenting on their own.
Want to learn more? Consider Intro to Alt Process: Siderotypes to explore cyanotype, van dyke brown, kallitype, and platinum printing.
$100 materials fee included in tuition
