Saturday
August 22
10 AM - 6 PM
Class Size Max: 6
In this one-day workshop, participants will learn how to create 8x10 direct-positive color prints in camera using darkroom paper and the RA4 color reversal process. This specialized analog darkroom technique converts color photographic paper, intended for darkroom printing, into luminous, unique positive images without the use of a negative.
Working in Penumbra’s northlight studio, students will photograph still lifes and portraits using both natural and artificial light before immediately processing their prints in the darkroom. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, participants will learn the fundamentals of photographing with large format cameras, loading paper into film holders, exposing and color correcting for the characteristics of the paper, and processing direct-positive prints using the RA4 color reversal process.
By the end of the workshop, students will leave with a collection of prints and a solid foundation for further experimentation. Please note: the use of stairs is required for this workshop.
Tuition includes a $100 materials fee
