Writing has the power to help you understand and change your image-making practice and gain a wider audience for your work. Through presentations, class discussions, and guided personal research, you will write a basic professional portfolio that includes an artist statement, résumé, bio, and project statements. These texts can be used on your websites and/or submitted to open calls. If you’re one of the many image makers who has avoided developing your writing skills because you feel confused, overwhelmed, or frustrated, Writing About Your Practice is the class for you!
Topics will include:
Researching opportunities for image-makers,
Understanding your work through writing,
Writing artist bios, and CVs,
Writing artist statements and project statements,
Writing project proposals for open calls.
