10AM - 2PM
Class Size Max: 8
Van dyke brown is a 19th century photography process that is extremely forgiving, remarkably easy to work with, and inexpensive. Similar to the cyanotype process, it is iron based, but produces beautiful earth tone prints in a range of rich brown hues.
This half day workshop teaches image makers of all levels the van dyke brown process from start to finish, through demonstrations and hands-on experience. Participants will learn how to coat the emulsion, expose their images, develop, and tone prints for permanence. Other ways of interacting with color will be explored, both through creative toning and hand-introduced color. By the end of the workshop, students will leave with 2-5 finished prints, and a working knowledge to continue printing on their own.
$40 materials fee included in tuition
