I IMAGINED IT EMPTY – Limited Edition Portfolio, RUTH LAUER MANENTI

I Imagined it Empty is a special edition portfolio of photographs by Ruth Lauer Manenti, printed in photogravure by Miguel Counahan.

The portfolio combines two bodies of work, Excerpts and Since Seeing You, to create I Imagined It Empty. Manenti said “While creating this work, I had the sense that all the people in my life, still here or not, live with me in my house. Pieces of their lives were flashing in my mind, and I was wanting them to linger.”

This portfolio was put together from an open call for Penumbra Foundation Members. Members were invited to submit their work for the unique opportunity to have a portfolio printed by Miguel Counahan in copper-plate photogravure, as selected by guest juror Samira Yamin.
