5PM - 8PM

Class Size Max: 10

Penumbra’s Mini Series is the opportunity to try out a new process before committing to a longer workshop or exploring it on your own. Each class will feature a new technique to explore!

In this accessible 3 hour workshop, participants will gain a basic understanding of toning cyanotypes. Through demonstration and hands-on learning, students will coat paper with cyanotype chemistry, process prints, bleach with ammonia, and then tone with coffee and tea. Students will leave with 2 prints and essential knowledge of the process. No darkroom experience necessary.

Materials fee included in tuition.

This series is made possible by the generous support of Valerie Sonenthal, Edward Grazda, Diran Sirinian, and Susan McLaughlin.

If you are interested in taking all 3 workshops in the Mini Series, please select “Full Series Bundle” at checkout to save!

If your desired tuition option is unavailable, please email info@penumbrafoundation.org and we will do our best to accommodate you. If the entire class is sold out, we can add you to the waitlist.

Jarrett Esaw is a photographer based in New York City, currently attending Hunter College for Studio Art. Interested in natural light, Jarrett explores New York in search of compositions and situations that stand out in different lighting. His work encompasses a variety of genres, with a focus on street photography. The print is an integral aspect of his practice. Whether it be silver gelatin, albumen, platinum, or inkjet his images are not fully realized until they are on paper.
