About the Artist:

Olivia Walsh is a Scottish-American photographer who currently resides in Philadelphia, PA. Born in Vermont, USA (1993) Walsh was raised in "The Last Wilderness", a North-Western Scottish peninsula and community buyout, with no road access to the Scottish mainland. Walsh's geographical history is something deeply influential on her practice, which centers on outsider perspectives. Walsh has a Painting and Printmaking BA from the Glasgow School of Art, where she developed her practice in the basement of the Rennie Mackintosh building, which, unfortunately, burnt to ashes soon after. Walsh moved to Berlin, Germany, where she formed the photographer's collective Analogue Berlin, which is now the largest online and event-based analogue photography community in the city. While in Berlin, Walsh debuted her first solo exhibition, Tectonic Acts of Desire and Doubt, a 28-Piece installation of sculpture and photographic works at the Seven Star Gallery. Walsh moved back to the USA after Trump's election and began working on her Finissage project, which focuses on (post-Trump) modern day America through a rural lens. Although still residing in the US today, she has a continued relationship with the Berlin art world and was most recently showcased in the exhibition Tap To Edit, curated by the collective RenkRosenblatAlexa, during Berlin Art Week. After an internship period, Walsh was invited to join the staff at Penumbra Foundation in New York, where she has found great inspiration in a community of like-minded and talented artists. When the global pandemic struck, Walsh relocated to Philadelphia and built a studio where she is able to pursue her passion in printmaking full-time.
