About the Artist:
Michael Page Miller was born in Eastern Washington State. He will not die there. Michael first picked up a 35mm camera in 1968 to document events at the Chicago Democratic Convention. After college, he photographed weddings, theater productions, news and sports. In Oakland, California, he became a photographer and graphic artist for a chain of African-American newspapers. Passion for civil liberties, human rights, women’s rights, and the environment led to many years as a fundraising and strategic planning consultant for nonprofit organizations. Michael is now primarily dedicated to creating abstract images. He finds subjects in both the built environment of New York City and the lush natural environment of Longboat Key, Florida. He was selected as an official photographer for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. “Photography is seeing. What I often see in many scenes are lines and patterns which I intuitively frame as abstract images first in my mind and then, with luck, in the camera. These abstracts give me a particular aesthetic pleasure. I hope the work mystifies and delights.”
