In between and alongside the development of long-term photographic projects, a lot of other work gets made—work that may not be substantial enough for a book or easily assimilated into a larger project. This course is dedicated to making something out of these other pictures, the “minor” works, one-off series, and various odds and ends that have yet to be properly articulated. Participants will look at a range of small, economical photography publications, artist books, and web-to-print projects. The class will share their lingering sets of pictures and discuss ideas for how they can be developed into a physical form. Most importantly, the course will conclude with each participant producing a modest publication and sharing it.
