A lith print is a silver gelatin print that has been over-exposed and partially developed in a highly diluted lith developer. The prints achieved with this process have unique tones and illustrative effects. Lith prints may display delicate warm tone highlights and mid-tones and cool, gritty, and harsh shadows.

In this two-day workshop, participants will learn to develop black and white darkroom prints with lith chemistry. Through demonstrations, experimentation, and hands-on learning, students will learn to read the “infections development” cues in order to control the results of their prints. We will cover both first and second-pass lith printing. Participants will come away with a range of exploratory prints using the process and a good foundation for future personal work.

Please bring your own negatives to print from or select digital images to be made into digital negatives.

Tuition includes a $50 materials fee
