Penumbra: ORIGIN mid 17th cent.: modern Latin, from Latin paene ‘almost’ + umbra ‘shadow.’

 

Penumbra Foundation is a non profit organization that brings together the Art and Science of Photography through education, research, outreach, public and residency programs. 

We are located at the heart of New York City: 36 E 30th Street between Madison and Park Avenues.

Our offices and center on East 30th Street, reside just around the corner from where the famous 291 Gallery created by Alfred Stieglitz was housed.
