12PM - 4PM

Class Size Max: 8

Cyanotype is a cyan-blue photographic process dating back to 1842. This one-day introductory workshop uses a hands-on approach to guide participants through mixing chemistry, paper selection, and proper coating and exposing techniques. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have made several cyanotype prints, from large format or digital negatives, or objects for photograms.  A brief demonstration of workable digital negatives will be reviewed. Participants will be allowed to print 1 digital negative each. Images should be prepared in advance on an external thumb drive.

$12 materials fee included in tuition

Molly Rapp, working under the pseudonym Sad Girl, is an interdisciplinary artist working in photography, video, sculpture, and performance. She delves into the intricate interplay between systems of power and expressions of sexuality. Her work challenges viewers to contemplate the intersection of these concepts, prompting them to engage in critical self-reflection. Employing her own body as medium and message, she confronts her lineage in attempts of self-discovery, navigating the complexities of history in contemporary discourse. In doing so, she illuminates the enduring resonance of historical legacies, urging us to confront them anew in light of our present socio-political landscape. Molly currently resides in Oakland, CA, and is obtaining her Master's of Fine Art at California College of Art.
