Interrogating systems and social constructs to reflect around the way we experience life and care for the world, are the underlying motivations of my image making, always starting from my everyday life surroundings and experiences. […] ”
Cati Bestard was born in Mallorca (Spain). She received her MFA from Columbia University in 2018. Her work has been exhibited at Ulterior Gallery, Times Square Space, Jewish Museum, Ortega y Gasset Projects, Museu Palau Soterra, Crush Curatorial and Untitled Miami. She has been a resident at the Institute of Investigative Living with Andrea Zittel (Joshua Tree, 2017), Hercules Art Studio Program (New York, 2018-2020), and Art Workspace Easthampton (Easthampton, 2021). She co-directs Dilalica, an exhibition space based in Barcelona. She has taught in the photography department at Columbia University, and currently teaches at Smith and Amherst Colleges.
