We witness a restaged birth, a parent’s wedding and the disco where they met. Relying on the clumsiness of memory, and the spontaneity of collaborative invention, these recreations are fantastical and dramatic...
These ideas and tendencies are not mine alone to claim. Most of the situations are dreamt up in step with the actors. We are collaborators in the performances; we are a traveling circus. […] ”
juliana roccoforte novello is an artist, educator, and activist. She is a first-generation Italian-American born and bred Brooklynite working in social justice. She was raised by wolves and likes to make pictures that challenge norms and ask unyielding questions about class, gender, age, and romance. She believes the best art is made of risk. She has a dog named Birdie who balances her and a tight-knit family who try their best but cannot help yelling when they get upset.
