PREREQUISITE: INTRO TO WET PLATE/WET PLATE PRINTING


After attending introductory wet plate courses, participants are often eager to try a larger plate size. This workshop provides the opportunity to make tintypes and ambrotypes in the 8x10” size, while advancing ones collodion technique and skill set.

Attendees use Penumbra’s studios, cameras, lighting and chemistry.
Bringing your own 8x10” camera is encouraged, but not necessary and should be discussed beforehand by emailing Molly@penumbrafoundation.org.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This workshop is catered to someone who has prior wet plate experience, and is looking to make 8"x10" size plates and work on their technique.



ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

SAM DOLE earned his BFA in photography from School of Visual Arts where he received the Rhodes Award for Outstanding Achievement. Sam has been an intern and workshop assistant at CAP, studied 19th C photography with noted photo historian Matthew Isenburg and has attended workshops conducted by John Coffer at Camp Tintype in Dundee, NY where he was honed his technique with wet plate legends Will Dunniway and Claude Levet. Sam’s work has appeared in Shutterbug Magazine and the SVA Visual Arts Journal and exhibited in the 2012 SVA Mentors Show as well as first prize winner at the 2012 Soho Photo Gallery Alternative Process Show. samueldole.com
