A hologram is a three-dimensional image recorded onto a photographic emulsion on glass-plate or film, using a laser. This course, taught by artists Susan Gamble & Michael Wenyon is for those wishing to learn more about this medium as an art form.

During the course you will see the set up required to build a hologram ‘camera’. In between exposing and processing a plate during the day, the artists will explain the history and oddities of this Cold-War technology.

Susan Gamble has a BA in Fine Art, Goldsmiths’ College, London, an MPhil & PhD, in the History of Science, Cambridge University, UK; Michael Wenyon has BSc in Physics, Bristol University, UK and a MSc in Optics, Imperial College, London. Their work has been shown, at the Photographers Gallery, London; The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography; Perspektief, Rotterdam; the MIT List Visual Arts Centre, Cambridge, Mass.; The Whitney Museum of American Art (New Film & Video Series); the ZKM Center for Art & New Media, Karlsruhe, Germany; The Tate, Liverpool, UK; and The Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
